Meet Our Founder
Uzoamaka Nkwonta is an accomplished mammographer at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. With more than a decade of experience, Uzo has been at the forefront of the campaign against breast cancer.
Passionate and committed to making a positive impact in patients’ lives, Uzo’s experiences have fueled her dedication to improving the lives of women in Africa and ethnic minorities here in the UK. Her fervor for supporting her community is a strong driving force in the discharge of her responsibilities at the NHS, and her advocacy and collaboration with various projects aimed at improving breast cancer awareness, early detection and support for survivors in the UK and across Africa.
Motivated by a vision to break down barriers to early diagnosis, Uzoamaka founded the KindHeart Charity & Empowerment Foundation International. Through quarterly webinars and social media outreach, she educates and empowers communities in Africa and her global audience on the need for early breast examination to reduce late-stage breast cancer diagnoses amongst Africans and at-risk ethnic minorities.
Uzo lives in Hove, Sussex with her husband and six children.
